A careful jump can still end on the wrong ledge. Echo Step records safe positions while you carry it, giving you a recent place to return to when a route goes wrong.
Keep a recent way back
Carry Echo Step while moving across safe ground. It remembers a short route behind you; using the artifact returns you to a recent safe position within 32 blocks.
The supplied history covers eight seconds. You arrive with your current health and inventory, so a spent resource or a bad fight is not undone. Think of it as a recent foothold to return to, rather than a rewind button.
Craft it
- Echo Step: 1 × diamond, 2 × copper ingot, 1 × amethyst shard, 1 × stick.
Open the editable project below and choose Crafting Path to check each recipe’s exact arrangement.
Before you try it
- A destination must still be loaded, supported, collision-free, and in the same dimension.
- There is no health, inventory, death, or world rollback. This is a return to stored recent positions, not a general undo for travel commands or other teleporting mods.
- History is session-only and clears on disconnect or server restart.
Each activation costs one amethyst shard in Survival, with a three-second cooldown. Creative use is free.
Download the beta JAR from Files. Use Minecraft Java 26.1.2, Fabric Loader 0.19.5, Fabric API 0.155.3+26.1.2 and Java 25. Put the mod and Fabric API in the instance’s mods folder; multiplayer needs both on the server and joining clients.
Checked on Windows in a separate test world. Other devices and live multiplayer have not been verified.
Make it yours
Reduce History window to four seconds for short movement challenges. Maximum return distance is separate, so a longer history does not promise long-distance travel.
Open Echo Step in the constructor to change the settings and build your own version. Save its editable project if you want to keep working later.
